Goal Setting For Weight Loss By Running

We should always have goals. Whether it be for weight loss, running, our careers, to stop watching so much TV, or to read more, goals give us something for which to strive. While running to lose weight, it can help you with two achievements.
You ostensibly want to lose weight, plus if you want to participate in road races, setting goals will help you through your training for whatever road race you want to enter. If you have no done so already, I highly encourage you to write down your weight loss goals from running to lose weight.

Be realistic, but bold when jotting down your future achievements. You really want to be able to work for something. You will achieve a much higher satisfaction if you give yourself a higher bar than a lower one. If your bar is too low, you may not give yourself enough on which to work, and instead may work too leisurely when, instead, you should put more effort. However, you do not want to give yourself goals too high that they are unrealistic ever be realized. Being ambitious is great, but you need to be realistic. An unexpected consequence could be that you are on an emotional "go getter" high when you jot down your goals, only to be brought down very low when you have to actually run and put in the work to facilitate meeting them.

Setting goals is great for motivation. After you have jotted a few down on paper (remember, being able to see what you want to accomplish is important so that it is not "out of sight, out of mind"), use that as your motivation for your everyday life. Use what you wrote down on paper to have the best runs and workouts that you could possibly have. You can accomplish all sorts of things if you believe you can do it, and actually do it. This will keep you running when it gets tough, but at the end of the day, you will feel very good about it.

If you have not written down any goals for weight loss by running, do that right now. Read the rest of this final paragraph can wait, but your future body and health will not. Do you want to run four times per week? Do you want to run for at least fifteen minutes or a mile each time out? Do you want to lose ten pounds within the next month? Put it down on paper and make it a reality!
